Acuity Technologies produces and markets Lidar systems for airborne mapping, autonomous vehicles, industrial processes, and structural geometry capture. Multiple return and signal strength capture are now available in both the AL-500 and AL500-AIR scanners.

The AL-500 and AL-500AIR offer programmable scan rates of up to 800,000 laser pulses per second and 300 scan lines per second over 120 degrees. At lower line rates, both can transmit 6667 pulses per line and capture up to 4 returns per pulse. Scan rates, fields of view, and laser pulse rate are controlled from the notebook based interface or through Acuity's Lidar Application Programming Interface routines. Control and data communications use a 100 Mb ethernet link.
The AL-500 is a two-axis laser scanning system for autonomous vehicles, industrial use, and general 3D scene capture. By combining a fast vertical scan rate with precision turret rotation the AL-500 can acquire range imagery across a wide range of scan speeds and resolutions. The AL-500 has unlimited continuous turret rotation at up to 10 revolutions per second. The turret can reverse direction for repeated narrow field of view scanning.
The AL-500AIR is a lightweight line scanner designed for airborne mapping and continuous or batch industrial point cloud acquisition. Weighing only 1.3 Kg and consuming 6 to 50 watts the AL-500 is well suited for small drones at altitudes up to 200 meters AGL.
The AL-500 and AL-500AIR may be configured for a wide range of sample rates, scan speeds, laser power, and maximum number of returns.
Acuity's PointWorks software is included with the AL-500 and AL-500AIR, with C++ source for control and data collection programming. Pointworks also provides interactive point cloud visualization and data export in standard file formats. For advanced processing, PointWorks' .LAS output can be used with any of several available point cloud manipulation and analysis packages.
